SuperAntiSpyware

SuperAntiSpyware is undoubtedly on the top. 134 threats on the systems tested were detected and cleaned with the help of ASS remover. We can characterized this software with a rather lightweight download and simple installation  that makes the product easy in using. While similar from an aesthetic standpoint the following was observed. The head package, for instance, is improved since last test and last time the requirement of detecting and cleaning after a single scanning is needed rather than the two scans. To complete cleaning there a reboot was required probably by all packages. This feature is a minor disadvantage. In case a criticism was raised, the results showed that the freeware version still installed a startup item which did nothing in general. As for the paid version, every loading there is on protection which is not observed in the freeware version. This minor annoyance doesn’t prevent the software from the top taking.

A-Squared

A-Squared free edition is at the second place. While testing A-Squared had identified just some more than 41 malware. It is worth noticing that A-Squared detected most of the dangerous threats that had also been detected by SAS. A-Squared unfortunately occurred to fail automatically cleaning of some of the more malicious infections. However, the product prvided a link to forums for manual removal instructions.

MalwareBytes AntiMalware

MalwareBytes AntiMalware also stands on the second place . While testing MalwareBytes AntiMalware caused some considerable problems as it was one of two programs that had been actively blocked from working by one of the threat picked up. There was a possibility to proceed only after renaming the general executable and running it in safe way. The initial scanning resulted in more than 15 infections found and managing to clean them entirely. When it was a need to reboot, the program could be run in a normal environment. After updating, the program found  threats in the amount till 30. The ability to remove hijacked DNS infections picks MalwareBytes AntiMalware out from other products tested.

PCTools SpywareDoctor SE

PCTools SpywareDoctor SE also showed good results in scanning; the program found about 21 malware (excluding cookies). The problem appeared with the system cleaning. In spite of reporting successful cleansing, SpywareDoctor did not terminate the running processes and did not really clean some of the more annoying threats. It also did not prompt a reboot after cleansing.

SpywareDoctor, in fact, includes real time protection, in comparison with most other products, and the protection did block the threats that had been failed for cleaning. However, a subsequent scanning and cleaning with SAS was needed to fully clean the system tested. The substantial fact is that the free version is no longer in availability from the PCTools website. It can be got from the Google pack as its part.

Spybot S&D

Spybot was also actively blocked from running. It appears with a file required scanning which can be run from the command line and set for scanning the entire drive. Nevertheless, after allowing this run for an hour or so and noting but a progress had hardly touched the small installation system. The scan completing would take a great deal of time, and would simply test files. As for registry entries and services, they would be left untouched.

Arovax Shield

Arovax Shield is as yet developed, despite, there are still some faultinesses to be removed. For instance, once installed, and after the necessary rebooting to run its services.

Arovax Shield in no time reported that it could not find Firefox. Since FF was not installed on the system tested, though it was impossible to see why it should prevent it from doing its service. This will probably become more fertile, but it proves to be not quite there yet.

Some recommendations:

  • Don't use a program for running from a suspicious source
  • Try not to visit websites containing infections
  • Be also on your guard against pop-ups from programs haven't been installed by you
  • Keep in mind, sometimes threats will scream into your face in case of their appearance
